  • Detailed Description

Typical Applications

He is a small, independently-excited DC motor built for loads where the speed must stay put when the mechanical load changes. Typical uses:

  • Conveyor belt drives — constant belt speed whether the belt is full or empty
  • Small hoists and winches — controlled, predictable lifting speed
  • Winding and unwinding machines — steady web tension as the roll diameter changes
  • Industrial mixers and agitators — stable speed as viscosity changes
  • Machine-tool spindle and feed drives — settable speed for different cuts
  • Test benches and small dynamometers — precise, repeatable speed setting

The exact equipment above should match your actual product — confirm which applications this model is built for before publishing.

Brushed DC Motor Family

The XQ-1.1T-1 is a separately excited DC motor — it belongs to the brushed DC motor family. Current reaches the rotor through carbon brushes and a commutator, the same as series, shunt and compound DC motors. What makes separately excited different is the excitation: the field winding is fed from its own DC source, not from the armature circuit. Plan on inspecting the brushes every 1,500-2,000 hours in intermittent duty — the same brush maintenance any brushed DC motor needs.

Separately Excited — Why Independent Field Control Suits Variable-Speed Drives

Because the field winding has its own supply, you control two things on their own. Lower the armature voltage and you get constant torque with speed dropping — the region for starting and heavy load. Weaken the field current and you get constant power with speed rising — a wider top-speed range than a series or shunt motor of the same size. The practical payoff is stability: a series wound motor speeds up and slows down as the load changes, which is exactly what you do NOT want on a conveyor or a winder.

A separately excited motor also regenerates. Overdrive the shaft and it pushes energy back to the battery, useful for controlled lowering and braking. The trade-off is control complexity: it needs a drive that handles the armature and the field (or a separate field supply), a step beyond a plain series motor. For 1.1 kW at 2100 rpm, that control gives a small industrial drive a speed you can set and trust.

How to Choose the Right DC Motor

  • By voltage: 24V DC — match your battery. 12V / 48V rewound versions available on request.
  • By power: 1.1 kW (1.5 HP) — light-duty variable-speed drive for small conveyors, winches, mixers and machine tools.
  • By excitation: separately excited (this motor) when you need load-independent speed and a constant-power range; series wound when maximum starting torque matters most (traction); shunt for simple constant speed; compound for steady speed plus strong start.
  • By duty: S2-60min — one hour at full load from cold, then cool down. Built for intermittent work, not continuous running; for near-continuous duty, size up.
  • By controller: a 60 A rated draw needs a 24V DC drive in the 75-90 A class to absorb start-up inrush and cover the field circuit too.
  • By shaft & mount: tapered output shaft built to your drawing; mounting configurable as B3 / B5 / B35 — tell us which at inquiry.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Separately excited vs series wound — what is the difference and which do I need?

A: In a series wound motor the field winding is in series with the armature, so speed swings with load and starting torque is very high — that is what a traction (wheel-drive) motor wants. In a separately excited motor the field winding has its own supply, independent of the armature. You can set the field current separately, so the speed stays stable as the mechanical load changes and the motor gains a constant-power high-speed range. Choose separately excited when you need controlled, load-independent speed (conveyors, winders, mixers); choose series wound when you mainly need maximum starting torque to pull a load from rest.

Q: What controller does a separately excited DC motor need?

A: It needs a DC drive that controls the armature voltage and the field current — or a separate field supply plus an armature chopper. A plain battery connection only runs it to no-load speed with no speed or torque control. For this 24V 1.1 kW model (60 A rated) use a 24V DC drive in the 75-90 A class so it covers the rated draw plus start-up inrush. Send us your supply and load profile and we confirm the exact rating.

Q: Can the shaft and mounting be customized?

A: Yes. The output shaft is a tapered shaft built to your drawing. Mounting is configurable as B3 (foot), B5 (flange) or B35 (foot + flange) — tell us which you need at inquiry, because the nameplate only specifies the tapered shaft, not the mounting interface. Send your shaft drawing and mounting requirement and we confirm before production.
