The XQ-10-1KS is a series wound DC motor — it belongs to the brushed DC motor family. Current is fed to the rotor through carbon brushes and a commutator, which gives very high starting torque and a wide speed range. The trade-off is brush wear: brushes are a normal service item (typically replaced every 1,000-2,000 operating hours depending on duty cycle). Compared with brushless DC motors, brushed DC motors are cheaper and simpler to control — that is why most 72V battery forklifts, tow tractors and transfer carts still use them.
A series wound motor places the field winding in series with the armature, so torque rises sharply as load increases and is highest at standstill. That is exactly what a heavy vehicle needs: a strong pull-away from zero speed, then a natural speed increase as the load eases. The XQ-10-1KS is rated 1200 rpm at 10 kW (13.4 HP) on a 72V battery — the highest power bracket in the 72V series wound range — with B35 foot-and-flange mounting. The 10 kW output and low 1200 rpm rating give the strongest low-speed pull in the family: ideal for a heavy counterbalance forklift lifting a full load, a tow tractor dragging several tonnes, or a transfer cart hauling steel on a rail line. With IP44 and Class F insulation it is built for outdoor and sheltered industrial duty, not just indoor floors.

Q: Is the XQ-10-1KS powerful enough for heavy forklifts and tow tractors?
A: Yes. At 10 kW (13.4 HP) on 72V with a 1200 rpm rated speed, the XQ-10-1KS is the highest power bracket in the 72V series wound range. Series wound motors produce peak torque at standstill and taper as speed rises, so this motor starts heavy loads from rest and keeps pulling on ramps — the exact profile heavy electric forklifts, tow tractors and transfer carts need. Lighter vehicles can use 5-8 kW models; heavier haulage above 10 kW is available on request.
Q: Is IP44 protection enough for outdoor use?
A: IP44 protects against solid objects over 1 mm and water splashing from any direction — it suits outdoor and sheltered industrial use where the motor may get rained on or splashed (yard trucks, outdoor transfer carts, dock and yard duty). It is not for washdown with a pressure hose or immersion. For high-pressure washdown or full outdoor exposure, ask our engineering team about IP54 or higher.
Q: What is the standard lead time?
A: Standard lead time is 15-25 working days for sample orders and 25-35 working days for bulk orders, shipping from Shanghai or Ningbo port. Confirm exact lead time for your volume at inquiry.
