Note: 96V DC is the battery / DC bus voltage; 68V AC is the rated 3-phase voltage the VFD applies to the motor terminals at the 62 Hz base frequency. The 309 A rating is the 3-phase AC line current at the motor terminals, not the DC battery current.
The XYQ-28PG01 is a 3-phase AC squirrel cage induction motor — also called an induction motor, or asynchronous, because the rotor turns slightly slower than the rotating stator field. The rotor is a cast aluminium cage with no brushes and no commutator, so there is almost nothing to wear — which is why AC induction takes over from DC brushed motors above a few kW.
The XYQ-28PG01 runs on a variable frequency drive (inverter), not fixed mains. The inverter sits on the 96V DC battery bus and synthesizes the 3-phase AC the motor needs; by varying frequency and voltage together it controls speed smoothly and delivers maximum torque at zero speed for launch. So you can match the motor to your driving cycle without a transmission, and regenerative braking is straightforward as the inverter pushes current back into the battery on deceleration.
Two voltages appear here and they are not the same thing. 96V DC is the battery pack the inverter draws from; 68V is the rated 3-phase AC line voltage at the motor terminals, set by the inverter's V/Hz curve at the 62 Hz base point — about the DC bus divided by 1.41. 62 Hz is the base frequency: on a 4-pole winding it gives a synchronous speed of about 1860 rpm, the base point where the motor delivers full torque. The 2800 rpm rating is the top speed, reached by raising frequency above 62 Hz in field weakening (roughly 95 Hz) — the drive holds 28 kW while torque falls — the constant-power range. S2-60min is a short-time duty rating: full 28 kW for 60 minutes, then a cool-down — the pattern of shuttle runs, lift cycles and AGV loops. The 64 P/rev Hall-effect encoder closes the speed loop so the controller holds commanded rpm under load, and the B5 flange bolts straight to the gearbox or hub face. IP21 is indoor/sheltered; Class H insulation gives thermal headroom for repeated start-up.

Q: What is the relationship between the 96V DC battery and the 68V AC motor terminal voltage?
A: 96V DC is the battery / DC bus; the VFD synthesizes the AC the motor runs on, so the terminal voltage is not the battery voltage. 68V is the rated 3-phase AC at the motor terminals, set by the inverter's V/Hz curve at the 62 Hz base frequency — about the DC bus divided by 1.41.
Q: Why is the rated frequency 62 Hz but the rated speed 2800 rpm?
A: 62 Hz is the base frequency, not the frequency at 2800 rpm. On a 4-pole winding, 62 Hz gives about 1860 rpm — the base point where the motor delivers full torque. The 2800 rpm top speed comes from raising frequency above 62 Hz in field weakening (roughly 95 Hz), where the drive holds 28 kW while torque falls. So 62 Hz and 2800 rpm are two points on the same V/Hz curve.
Q: What is B5 mounting, and how does it differ from B3 or B35?
A: B5 is flange mounting (IEC): the motor bolts to the gearbox or hub face through its flange. B3 is foot mounting; B35 combines feet and flange. B5 gives a compact, well-centred shaft fit and is standard on this frame — B3 or B35 can be re-tooled on request.
