How to Choose the Right Traction Motor
- By voltage: this model is 24V DC to match common 24V battery packs (2 × 12V traction batteries in series). If your vehicle runs on 48V, look at the 48V traction range; if 72V, the 72V range.
- By speed: 2800 rpm rated is on the higher end of the 24V range — suits direct-coupled or reduction-geared drivelines wanting higher top speed. Heavier-load, lower-speed applications (loaded pallet truck on a ramp) need a lower-rpm 24V variant.
- By load: 3 kW suits light-to-medium traction vehicles on 24V battery packs. Heavier forklift classes or larger utility vehicles need a bigger model.
- By mounting: B3 foot, B5 flange, or B35 foot+flange are configurable — pick to match your gearbox housing.

A: 160A is the normal running current at 24V for 3kW output — 24V × 160A = 3.84 kW in, 3 kW at the shaft, roughly 78% efficient (normal for a series-wound DC traction motor of this size). The brushes and commutator are sized for this current; the controller, contactor and battery cabling must all be rated for 160A continuous with 200A+ surge headroom for stall and start-up transients.
